FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Angel Capital Association President and CEO Patrick Gouhin to Retire in June 2027 After More Than Eight Years of Transformational Leadership
Board launches national search for next CEO, building on a strong foundation of growth, education, data and advocacy
OVERLAND PARK, Kansas — October 28, 2026 — The Angel Capital Association (ACA), the leading professional organization for angel investors, has announced that President and CEO Patrick Gouhin will retire on June 30, 2027, at the close of ACA’s fiscal year. Gouhin will have led ACA and its 501(c)(3) affiliate, the Angel Investor Foundation, for more than eight years.
The ACA Board of Directors has formed a CEO Search Committee, chaired by Kristina Montague, to identify his successor. Gouhin will remain in his role through June 2027 to ensure a seamless transition.
Under Gouhin’s leadership and with strong support of the board, ACA built the professional infrastructure, programs, and financial strength to match its mission. Highlights of his tenure include:
- Creating the Angel Investor Foundation, ACA’s 501(c)(3) affiliate, established during his tenure.
- Deepening member value, with new member benefits and programming, including group leader support, best practice exchange, and regional and sector-specific deal sharing.
- Expanding Angel University, rounding out a full curriculum for new and experienced angel investors, entrepreneurs, and ecosystem builders alike.
- Pioneering data and insights, delivering new and unparalleled analysis of early-stage investing through ACA’s data analytics initiatives.
- Advocating for Angels, influencing federal legislation and regulation to expand access to capital and incentivize early-stage investing.
“It has been my honor, privilege, and pleasure to serve as President and CEO of the Angel Capital Association and the Angel Investor Foundation,” said Gouhin. “I am proud of everything our team has delivered, but the work is not done. Thanks to our board, our volunteer leaders, and a wonderful staff that never loses sight of our stewardship, we have built a stronger member-driven organization together. I look forward to working closely with the board on a transition that helps the ACA continue to evolve and grow.”
“Pat leaves ACA stronger, more professional, and more influential than ever,” said Kristina Montague, chair of the Board and CEO Search Committee. “The foundation he built, from Angel University and our Angel Investor Foundation to strengthen our data insights and advocacy, gives the next CEO a remarkable platform. We are grateful for his leadership and for his commitment to a seamless transition.”
ACA enters this transition from a position of strength, from its operations to its education, research, and advocacy programs. This foundation allows the next CEO to focus on what comes next: expanding ACA’s reach and advancing the early-stage investing community.
Over the coming months, Gouhin and the board will carry out a transition plan so that ACA’s work continues without interruption. The search for a new CEO will begin in January 2027 and will be led by an internal Search Committee. Those interested in the role, or in recommending candidates, will find details and a timeline for the process at angelcapitalassociation.org when the search opens.
